iN-Motion Game Jam is a non-profit hackathon that raises the awareness of people with disabilities and the increasing movement of touchless control devices like Kinect. On July 27-29, 2012, iN-Motion Game Jam will be hosted at the Bethel Center at 2557 Alemany Blvd in San Francisco, CA. Vast Apps, Inc., a game and app developer start-up for smartphones, tablets, PCs, and motion devices, is the lead organizer of this event. Developers, artists, and other creative professionals will gather during a 48-hour period to make one or more games to target the usage for and awareness of people with disabilities. In partnership with Vast Apps, Inc., ZigFu, a middleware product developer, will be used to connect motion capturing devices with your computer in conjunction with Unity to create games or educational programs.

Sponsors include AT&T, Unity3D, Prime 31, YetiZen, Artbackr, and GameCloud. We are currently looking to increase participants and contributors for this 501(c)(3) non-profit fundraiser for Bethel Center. Please visit our website to become a sponsor, to participate or donate at www.in-motiongamejam.com.

We are asking for artist and programmers that are interested in building educational games by using motion technology as your tool to come join just at Bethel Center. Willing participants from all levels of experience are welcome, from student and novice to experts and professionals.

Participants need to be familiar using Unity 3D game engine that supports both Javascript and C sharp language.  As an event that supports Unity, artists should be ready use 3D modeling tools like 3D Studio Max, Maya, SoftImage, or any software that allows obj or fbx files to be used in the game engine.

If you are not brave enough to hack for 2 days straight, we welcome people to come see what the event is about. There will be a no cover charge; however, we encourage donations that will benefit the Bethel Center. We look forward to working with our participants and thank you in advance for your contribution.

Skill set Update: HTML5 developers are welcome!

Zigfu, the Kinect-to-computer middleware plugin, supports both Unity and HTML5 in the browser.

Participants can be developers or designers from any level. Developers can use Unity and its supported languages (Javascript/C#), or they can also use HTML5. Designers can use the usual array of 3D modeling tools, but 2D games are also possible with both Unity and HTML5 in the browser.

If you'd like to develop with Kinect, or if you have Kinect-ideas to help people with disabilities -- then drop by, we'll help you get started and setup!

Prizes: Unity3D, GitHub, Prime31, ZigFu, plus many more
